The DuroMax XP4400E portable generator is capable of a surge maximum output of 4400 watts and 3500 running watts. The unit features a 7.0-horsepower air cooled OHV (overhead valve) engine that can be started with a standard recoil start or a simple electric start. The 4 gallon gas tank is capable of an 8 hour run time and the unit features two 120-volt, 20-amp standard household outlets to supply household appliances as well as a powerful 120/240-volt, 30-amp twist lock outlet for power tools at the jobsite. The panel power is equipped with a voltmeter, low oil protection system and battery charge indicator light for efficient usage. The heavy-duty steel frame cage with 4-point fully isolated motor mounts means for less noise emission and a quieter performance. This generator is also easily portable due to the wheel kit with large, all-terrain tires that will never deflate and a flip-up handle.

Satisfied DuroMax customers have been impressed with the performance of the unit as backup power supply during domestic emergencies and blackouts due to extreme weather conditions. Users have commented that the generator has supplied various household appliances simultaneously with ease, such as TV’s, security systems and fridge freezers. In addition to this, users with little prior knowledge of generators have been satisfied with the ease of assemblage and simplicity of the instruction manual. Other positives have included the study, solid construction of the unit and the fast electric powered start-up mechanism.

Reviews have on the whole been very favourable, however a few criticisms have included that the oil filler hole is placed in a difficult location meaning without the purchase of a funnel there may be spillages when filling up. Other users have had to replace the solenoid on the electric start-up after repetitive use and some have reported leaking fuel from the fuel valve causing a fire hazard. However, these defects seem uncommon and have been resolved with good customer service from DuroMax. Other user suggestions have included mixing the fuel with an anti-oxidant such as Stabil before putting it in the tank for a unit that is run infrequently as gas mixed with anti-oxidant should last for about one year.

On the whole, DuroMax XP440E customers have been extremely impressed with the general performance of the unit in supplying various appliances for different purposes at the same time, coupled with the durability and solid construction of the frame and components.
