What Is It?

The Linden Method, created by Charles Linden, is an alternative treatment to anxiety and panic attacks. Linden developed this program because he was a victim of panic attacks. His problems with anxiety began when he was a child and lasted into his twenties, despite receiving traditional medication and therapy. Endeavouring to find a solution in order to live a normal life, Linden poured all his time into researching a cure of his own

His first “patient” was himself and within a month he reported a much better outlook. After developing the program even more, he called it The Linden Method and made it available to everyone who went through the same ordeal as he did. On his website, Linden claims to have helped over 200,000 people overcome their panic and anxiety. Charles Linden recommends using The Linden Method to alleviate these conditions:

• Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)
• Panic Attacks and/or Panic Disorder
• Agoraphobia
• Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
• Depersonalisation
• Derealisation
• Post Traumatic Stress disorder (PTSD)
• Anxiety and Panic as a result of Depression

Buyer Reviews

People who suffer from anxiety are very sceptical of products that profess absolute cures, and rightfully so. Most reviewers said before The Linden Method, they had been through many treatment programs including prescription medication and none worked. But because of the great reputation of The Linden Method and favourable reviews form people they knew, they made the decision to try the program.

There were some reviewers who felt that Linden did not give sufficient consideration to safety seeking behaviours. This is one of the most common reasons why people suffering from panic attacks have great difficulty in improving. These are when people look for ways to escape a situation or feel safe during a panic attack. This is bad because it perpetuates the fear of certain situations making people feel that they always have to hide in those cases. A reviewer stated that he was left confused because in some cases Linden encouraged diversion tactics but in other he encourages what appears to be safety seeking behaviours.

Reviewers enjoyed the relaxation CDs provided. It helped keep them calm during the day, even while driving. They felt that this was an important part of the program and should not be skipped.

Linden understands that effort will be required to see this program through. There is no instant off switch to panic attacks, especially if you have suffered with anxiety for many years. However, he does implore, if you choose to do the program, that you use this as your only treatment method for that period. This also means not using other medical practitioners while on The Linden Method. This was a contentious point with some and is a decision only you can make for yourself.

There is a clear pattern in those who reported success with The Linden Method. Reviewers who did exactly as the program dictated and used it as their sole anxiety treatment, reported great results; from being free of panic attacks altogether to having much less occurrences of attacks than usual and that they were much less severe. The time it took to experience these results varied, some reviewers said they felt better within a month.

While there were many reviewers who praised The Linden Method for giving them their life back, there were some reviewers who experienced no change and believed much time was wasted.

Is It A Scam?

The Linden Method may be controversial but I do not believe it should be classified as a scam. The Linden Method has been featured on national TV as well as national news publications with interviews of Charles Linden and the famous people who swear by his methods.

Jemma Kidd Wellesley, Countess of Mornington, boldly endorsed The Linden Method in international media. In one interview, Jemma recalled that the time she had felt the happiest was when her panic attacks got worse; this was when she enlisted the help of Charles Linden after hearing about The Linden Method. She then bought the book, read it, followed the steps and soon enough, she started to feel better. Jemma admitted that sticking to The Linden Method is easier said than done, but it works.

How Does It Work?

Charles Linden believes that anxious behaviour is a habit and the key to overcoming anxiety and panic attacks is to reprogram the subconscious mind to divert attention away from the panic and respond appropriately to situations and the source of the anxiety. The Linden Method outlines nine pillars, which if followed correctly, will help you control anxiety and lessen occurrences of panic attacks. The program is very comprehensive, and uses various alternative techniques to find relief from panic and anxiety. These techniques involve mental, emotional and physical processes.
